Then coat the head with papier mache, this time using wallpaper glue. Much better outcome glue-wise, but I hadn't learned my lesson with that thin cardboard. It immediately started to warp and bend all over the place as it dried. The dome worked really well - the balloon kept its shape perfectly, but as the layers went on the sides of the head gradually turned into a more and more misshapen mess.
